Welcome to Groomsport Playgroup and Childcare Centre! We’re a family-run setting in Groomsport, offering a warm, friendly home from home where children can play, explore, make friends and grow in confidence.
Starting playgroup is a big milestone—for little ones and their grown-ups! We’re here to help make that first step feel a little easier, with familiar faces, reassuring routines and plenty of fun along the way.
A little home from home
For many children, playgroup is their first experience away from home. We take time to get to know each child—their interests, their routines and the little things that help them feel comfortable.
Some children arrive ready to explore everything, while others need a little more time and reassurance. We work with you to help your child settle at their own pace and feel part of our playgroup family.
Meet our team
Our setting is run by Heather Patton, who leads our caring team and shares a commitment to making playgroup a happy, welcoming place for children and families.
We’re here for the big milestones, the small achievements and all those lovely everyday moments in between. Building good relationships with parents is a big part of what we do, so questions, updates and a friendly chat are always welcome!
Learning through play
Play is at the heart of our days. Through hands-on experiences, children develop their confidence, independence, communication and friendships.
You might find us mixing up mud-kitchen recipes, building something brilliant, sharing a favourite story or heading outside to explore. There’s plenty of room for curiosity, imagination and wonderfully messy masterpieces!
We celebrate each child’s progress and help them take their next steps in a way that feels right for them.
What we offer
Pre-school
Play-based learning in the year before primary school, helping children build confidence, independence and skills for their next adventure. We are part of the Pre-School Standardisation Programme (PSP) and offer fully funded 4.5-hour days for children in their pre-school year.
